Kent police blotter april 141/20/2024 Man shot: 9:16 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Railroad Avenue South for illegal discharge. The suspect was arrested for investigation of DUI and reckless driving. After sideswiping a car in the oncoming lane, the suspect got high-centered on the cement C-curbing and ground to a halt. They turned around to chase and watched as the car was all over the road, taking out street signs, going into oncoming traffic as it went west down Canyon Road. Officers located witnesses who heard the gunshots and located numerous bullet casings on the west side of the business.ĭUI driver: 10:47 p.m., officers were on the way to a different call when a reckless car blew a red light at 104th Avenue SE and SE 256th Street in front of them. An employee at the store stated a male who appeared to be bleeding from his hand asked him to call 911 because he had been assaulted but did not remain on scene. Officers were unable to locate a suspect or victim. Shots fired: 8:52 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting at the 7-Eleven, 511 Central Ave. Upon the officers’ arrival, the vehicle was unoccupied. A witness had seen two males within the vehicle as they were removing items. On April 14, the vehicle was located at the Medic 1 Office, 20811 84th Ave. The suspect fled the scene in her vehicle. As she was getting out of her vehicle, she was confronted by the suspect who pulled out a gun and ordered her to give him the keys. The victim had parked her vehicle at the location with the intent of going to her boyfriend’s house. The suspect was arrested, and officers located an AK type pistol with approximately 345 fentanyl pills.Ĭarjacking: 12:58 a.m., officers were dispatched to a carjacking that occurred in the 12500 block of SE 276th Place. One of the subjects contacted was the victim who admitted being robbed at gunpoint of his money while trying to purchase fentanyl pills. They detained the subjects in the vehicle. Officers located the vehicle at the Plant Fitness down the street. Upon arrival, they located a Honda CRV that quickly left the parking lot. Robbery: 10:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to a potential robbery at the East Hill market, 23847 108th Ave. The victim fired into the ground, and the round ricocheted striking the suspect and ending the incident. The victim began to retreat out of his vehicle and away from the suspect until he had nowhere to go and announced he was going to fire a warning shot to stop the suspect. The suspect confronted the victim who was sitting in his vehicle, opened the passenger side door, snatched the keys to the vehicle and yelled at the victim. The shooter was the victim in this incident. Shooting: 5:42 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 21400 block of 130th Avenue SE. “They lost everything, and they are still in pretty good spirits,” Bailey said.A sampling of Kent Police incidents April 11-24: Now the family is temporarily staying with him and his family as they try to get back on their feet. Tragically, he said he was told that three of the four dogs inside the building had perished.īailey found the family whose home had been destroyed by the fire and offered them a place to stay in his own home. He had heard that no one else was in the building after the man he helped get out. After he cleaned up he returned to the scene of the fire. Within minutes the fire department showed up, and Bailey got out of their way. The smoke was too thick to return upstairs, so he grabbed a shovel and began throwing it like a spear to break the upstairs windows so anyone inside could get out. He said he grabbed the man by his shirt and nearly threw him out the door to get him out of the smoke and heat. He heard a voice respond up the stairs and began to approach it before he found a man on the steps. He began to worry for any possible survivors, not sure that anyone could last more than 30 seconds to a minute in the structure that was choked with smoke. The smoke was so thick, he had to crawl to avoid inhaling too much. The smoke was so thick that he said he could not see more than 6 inches in front of his face. Once inside, he began yelling to get the attention of anyone who could have still been in there.
